Kroger Art Program - Request For Qualification
The Kroger Company in partnership with Charleston Creativity Connections and The Tamarack Foundation, will commission an local artist to create indoor artwork for a new Kroger grocery store opening in the area in 2021.
The artwork will be prominently displayed at the entrance of the store as part of the Kroger Company’s commitment to involving artists in beautifying new stores in West Virginia and throughout the nation. The artwork will be expected to celebrate the spirit of the community and the unique identity of the surrounding area. The artwork must be created on rigid substrate that can be attached to the wall and to be installed on site by the general contractor selected by the Kroger Company.
The wall space for the artwork is to be 24 feet wide by 8 feet high.
This opportunity is open to artists in the Kanawha Valley area with the ability to produce exemplary large-scale art.

SEMI-FINALIST PROPOSAL AWARD
Up to three artists from the applicant pool will be selected to prepare a design/drawing of their proposed artwork to be created for the new Kroger grocery store. Artists selected to create a proposal will be paid $400 for their proposal.
PROJECT BUDGET
One artist will be selected by Kroger and awarded a commission of $10,000 to create their proposed piece of art. This amount includes all artist fees and includes cost for any materials used for creation of the artwork, and the transportation and delivery of the completed artwork to the new Kroger grocery store by Friday, February 24, 2021.
The general on-site contractor of the new Kroger grocery store, with the guidance of the artist, will perform the installation of said artwork.
